The friend Daiki keeps calling up on the phone, Tomoyuki Tachi is (so far) the only actual racing pro that appears in the Initial D manga. Surprised by his friends Daiki and Sakai's losses to the Project D team, Tomoyuki, or Tomo as Daiki usually calls him, decides that he should be the one to take Ryousuke's team down.
Tomo easily sets a new course record on a practice run, startling his friends - but obviously a racing pro would have much, much higher standards of technique compared to them.
Kyouichi Sudou of the Emperor team calls up Ryousuke to inform him that his team would be racing against Tomo, an actual racing pro (both Kyouichi and Tomo were from Toudou-Juku). Ryousuke is surprised by the news (and not to mention worried). When the night of the race arrives, Ryousuke decides that Takumi is to race against Tomo...
