The Initial D : Type D CD-ROM contains Initial D desktop accessories and other Initial D-related information, programs and games. The first press edition of the CD-ROM has a free Initial D AE86 Trueno metal plate keychain. The information guides section in this CD-ROM contains series, character profiles, cars and battle guides. These guides are rather detailed, and feature artwork from various scenes in the manga.

The CD-ROM also features two mini-games; a mouse downhill racing game, and a panel driving game. The downhill game is fun.

The screensavers are my favourite bit out of any desktop accessories CD-ROM, and the ones in this Type D CR-ROM are rather nifty. There are several screensavers included, but my personal favourites are the 'wiper' screensaver (pic on the left) and the 'flying cars' screensaver (pic on the right).

There are other programs included with the Type D CR-ROM, such as a desktop clock program. There are four different designs available for the desktop clock.

Other programs in the Initial D : Type D CD-ROM include a desktop calendar (pic on the left). The calendar allows you to store notes and reminders for important days.
Also included is the mandatory desktop calculator, and you have four different designs to pick from. Oh joy.
The animated cursors are fun (no pics, I have no idea how to make a decent screencap), and the wallpapers are not bad. Don't expect lots of new artwork from Shigeno for the wallpapers though; all the images can be found in the artbook and calendar, but for one.

Random Notes
As for desktop accessories go, the Initial D : Type D CD-ROM is a pretty decent buy. I particularly like the information guides included on the CD-ROM, since it saves a lot of time from looking anything up in each individual volume of the manga. If you have money to spare and you're a big fan of the series, go ahead and buy the CD-ROM. But before you do that, bear this in mind: This CD-ROM is designed exclusively for the Japanese Windows 98 and Windows Me. Sticking it in a Windows for a different language and it's highly likely that the whole thing just won't work.
Oh, and you can forget about hoping to find downloads from the CD-ROM available on this site. You want new toys for your desktop, you buy the CD-ROM.
